Our History

Rietberg Realty Company began in 1971 with an office in the Southwest metropolitan Grand Rapids, Michigan area.

The firm was incorporated as Rietberg Realty Co., Inc. in June 1973. By late 1977, in addition to sales and land development, the Company substantially expanded its services in residential real estate. This required additional sales and office personnel, sales tools, training procedures, and implementation of the newest marketing techniques. This led to the purchase of the Century 21 Real Estate Franchise in November 1977 and operated as Century 21 Rietberg Realty Co., Inc. The residential sales staff increased to approximately 45 sales associates with two offices. Century 21 Rietberg Realty Co., was consistently in the “Top 21 Offices” award out of 292 Century 21 offices in the state.

In July 1978, the Company relocated to the newly remodeled Grandville ACE Hardware building in downtown Grandville. In 1983 the Simerink & Duthler Realty Co. was purchased and served as an additional office in Southeast Grand Rapids.

During the mid ’80’s, the Company began to concentrate more of its time and talents to commercial, industrial and investment real estate. The Company was handling a substantial amount of land development and ‘turn-key’ packages of site selection, construction management, and property management.

In 1988, the Company began to work exclusively on commercial real estate and began operating under the name of Rietberg Companies. Area of focus included office, multi-family, retail, industrial, vacant land, and investment transactions. The company redesigned the logo, signs and promotional materials to reflect its “new” direction.

In April 2005, expansion and additional growth prompted the relocation of Rietberg Companies to a two-story building located at 3083 Washington Avenue in Grandville. The Company continues to operate from this location today.
